printing

I have been printing some bits of the jacket before it gets sewn together by the genius that is Sophie Keate (friend and now, my seamstress!).

Once the screen had been exposed and set up, I laid out the pieces of fabric I wanted to print on such as pertex (waterproof) and merino.
Placing the screen on top of the fabric I put some special foiling glue onto the screen and pulled this through quite hard.

When I lifted off the screen, the pattern or letters are left behind faintly on the fabric.  This is left to completely dry.

I laid a layer of the sliver foil over the top of the glued areas and put this into a 140 degree heat press for 30 seconds...

Once completely cooled it's probably the most satisfying part of the job; peeling off the foil to reveal the designs.  I get so excited to see if they turned out ok!

And here is some of the stuff that came out looking pretty peachy.  i cannot wait to see it sewn into the jacket :-)
